Day trips from Milan

If for you the city of Milan has no more secrets and you have already participated in all the events in program, the only thing to do is to organize some easy drive trips, for a single day or for the whole weekend, in one of the most suggestive places not far from our Hotel.

Isola Bella

A really lovely place not to be missed is the Isola Bella, the largest of the three Borromeo Islands located on the Lake Maggiore, where you can find a wonderful baroque palace, built by the Borromeo family in 1620. The palace is home to several venues such as the Music Room, the Caves and the Gallery of General Berthier, and is surrounded by a well kept garden, where you’ll find exotic plants and flowers, very rare and particular animals such as white peacocks.

Some restaurants and local shops are not lacking if you want to bring home some small souvenirs. To visit the island and take part in the organized excursions, we suggest you to book in advance on the dedicated website in order to enjoy a day of peace and tranquility.

Monza

Just a 40 minute drive from the Hotel Cavour you can visit Monza, a city rich in history, artistic excellence and sports events. Not to be missed during your stay are the most meaningful places of the city: the Royal Villa, the Autodrome and the Cathedral.

The Royal Villa, located inside the Park of Monza, is a building designed by the architect Giuseppe Piermarini in 1777 that represents the typical example of Neoclassical architecture in Italy. The villa consists of two floors where it’s possible to visit the rooms of the royals who stayed there in the previous centuries. A truly unmissable atmosphere.

Until the 2 July you can bring the little ones to the “History of Art as told by children”: a project that provides workshops and creative activities with the aim to make children understand the importance of art. For a guided tour, you should book on the site of the structure. All that remains to do is to let yourself be enchanted by this magical place.

For all the motors lovers, the visit to the Autodrome is a must. A place where the four, but also the two wheels, will compete in exciting races that will turn you breathless. From may 12 to 14 the European Le Mans Series will take place: a race where the cars in competition will run for four hours.

However, not only the motors are the protagonists inside the Autodrome, in fact, several events are organized within the spaces such as conventions, seminars and exhibitions.

Of recent restoration, the Monza Cathedral, built in 1300, is still today a place of worship of great importance, both in Italy and Europe, thanks also to the hidden treasures on the inside. In fact, the Corona Ferrea is kept there: it is famous because, along with the materials that were used to realize it, a nail is guarded that is said, according to an ancient tradition, to have been used for the crucifixion of Christ.

In addition to the Museums, the treasures, and the Chapel of Teodolinda, you can find the wonderful Biblioteca Capitolare, rich of volumes prior to 1500.

The Lake of Como

Lake Como is the ideal destination to spend a holiday to relax in tranquillity. Thanks to its location, it allows to both practice water sports and enjoy a stroll around the mountains. A place on which beautiful villas, flowering gardens and very characteristic villages overlook.

In order to see with more attention the lake, it’s possible, during summer, to get on to the boats that will make you live a very romantic experience and unique in its kind.
