22 Sep Milan dresses up for fashion week
September hosts one of the most important fashion events of the year, the fashion week: six days of runway shows, presentations, special events and parties host by the four Fashion Capitals, New York, London, Paris and Milan.
This week is the Italian turn. The spotlights are turned on Milan with the Vogue Fashion Night Out, the evening of shopping and charity, now at its eighth edition.
Milano Moda Donna will enrich Milan with events open to the public. Here are the ones to be noted in your agenda!
The Fashion Hub Market is definitely a project that is worth a visit. 14 emerging designers, on their first fashion week, will exhibit their pret-a-porter collections and accessories at the Pavilion UniCredit in Piazza Gae Aulenti. The space is located inside the district symbol of the new Milan, the recent shopping fast growing center.
An exhibition we also recommend you to visit is "On Board: the principle of creativity", a collection that exposes an intimate and extraordinary cross between fashion designers and clothing, art and craft.
Inaugurated for Milano Unica in the pavilions of Fiera Rho the 6th September, it is moving to the city center in the Visconti Pavilion in Via Tortona 58 throughout the duration of the Milan Fashion Week (September 22nd to 26th, free admission).
Simone Marchetti, the curator of the exhibition, has chosen to expose the moodboards of the Italian designers alongside the collections that they inspired. Each work has been inserted in multimedia rooms that every designer has customized with its own aesthetics.
At it's third edition, the Fashion Film Festival is back to Milan with an official selection of 180 movies chosen from young talented people, big brands and international directors.
During the Festival you can take part at the preview and discussion of the documentary: "Anna Piaggi: A fashion visionary" and the exhibition "Body and Garment", a work in collaboration between the National Film Archive and Vogue Italia.
To access the showing you need to register on the site www.fffmilano.com
During the days of the Fashion Week you can not miss a visit to the exhibition "Women: New Portraits" by Annie Leibovitz, on display in the spaces of Orobia Factory 15 in the south of Milan.
The new work of the American photographer, which counts collaborations with magazines such as Rolling Stone, Vogue and Vanity Fair, wants to present the result of a project started over fifteen years ago with Susan Sontag. The photographs reflect the changes in the role of women in contemporary society, women who have achieved outstanding results, including artists, musicians, managing directors, writers and philanthropists.
For all those who will not be in Milan between September 21st to September 27th, don’t worry, the exhibition will remain open until October 2nd, 2016.
The last advice for fashion lovers, is a visit to the exhibition held at Palazzo Morando, called “Dialoghi di filo”. The project created by students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera wants to compare the relationship between training, production and creation, three fundamental principles that characterize the "Made in Italy".
The exhibition will be open until the 27th November 2016.
The fashion week will last only six days but Milan is rich of various other events and exhibitions.
The city never sleeps and tries to satisfy everybody's tastes, which event will you choose?
