The best book bars in Milan!

The the book bar trend is born in the United States and now it landed in Italy as well: places where to sip hot tea and read a book, in a calm and friendly atmosphere, away from the bustle of the city. These spaces can also be found in Milan, of course, and we have decided to point out some of the most beautiful.

The Bistro del Tempo Ritrovato is located in front of Parco Solari. As suggested by the name, entering the Bistro is really like finding a little of your precious free time: classical background music, books on the shelves, newspapers on the tables, a smell of croissants and cappuccino. A curious initiative proposed by the Bistro is the "suspended book": a customer buys an extra book, usually a volume that they would recommend, and leaves it to the seller, so that it can be given to the first customer who will enter the local after them.

The Gogol & Company is located at the bottom of Via Savona. It’s an independent and self-funded bookstore, but is also a meeting place hosting events, parties, art exhibitions. The owners care about the small publidhing houses and emerging writers, so in this bookshop you won’t find only the best sellers of the season.

Gogol & Company is therefore a place where stopping to read, browse books, study or work at the computer, or to have a meal or a snack in the quiet at bistro area.

This book bar in Porta Romana area is called Open - More than books and, as the name reveals, is more than a simple bookstore: here, in addition to the classic reading experience, you can sign up and try the digital reading on tablet or e -reader.

Even the traditional figure of the bookseller is transformed: here a "digital bookseller" dispenses advice to readers and explains their numerous reading proposals. Open is a place of sharing and conviviality, with an open-style kitchen, a relaxation area, stations of co-working and meeting rooms.
The claim of Le Libragioni is "wine, art and books": this bookshop, in fact, just around the corner from Lambrate Station, is in fact a winehouse and a tavern that satisfies lovers of both good food and reading and art. Here it’s possible to buy used books, art objects and paintings carefully chosen by the owners, who aim to create a high-level cultural and entertainment environment.

We’ll conclude with the bookstore-bistro-café- RED , open by Feltrinelli in Piazza Gae Aulenti. RED is an acronym for Read, Eat, Dream, which seems to be the philosophy of this space: here it is possible to buy books (about 5,000 titles available), eat in a refined manner at a not excessive cost, and share, participate at cultural events, meet each other.

And what about you? Have you ever been to one of these book bars? Do you have others to suggest to us?
